RevoDx Staphylococcus Spp qPCR Kit

Staphylococcus spp. cause various suppurative infections, especially abscesses, mastitis and pyoderma. They occur as part of the normal microbial flora on the skin and mucous membranes of healthy humans and animals, and, to a lesser extent, in the environment. These bacteria are spread by having direct contact with an infected person, by using a contaminated object, or by inhaling infected droplets dispersed by sneezing or coughing. Skin infections are common, but the bacteria can spread through the bloodstream and infect distant organs.

Staphylococcus spp. are Gram-positive cocci (0,8 to 1,0 µm in diameter), non-motile, facultatively anaerobic, and catalase-positive, and in pus they form clusters like bunches of grapes. Species of the genus Staphylococcus have a GC content within the range 30.7–36.4 moles %.
