Transplant recipients are immunocompromised due to immunosuppressive therapy, making them highly susceptible to infections. Early detection and treatment of these infections are crucial for preventing complications and improving outcomes. CMV is a common cause of infection and disease in transplant recipients, potentially leading to severe complications. It can cause CMV disease affecting various organs. EBV can cause post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) and other complications. Regular monitoring is important for early detection of PTLD. VZV can cause shingles and disseminated varicella in immunocompromised patients. It may lead to serious complications if not managed promptly. Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV1) can cause oral and sometimes genital infections, but in transplant patients, it can lead to severe complications including encephalitis. Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 (HSV2) primarily causes genital herpes but can also cause systemic infections in immunocompromised patients. Human Herpesvirus 6 (HHV 6) can cause complications such as bone marrow suppression and seizures, especially in pediatric transplant recipients. Human Herpesvirus 7 (HHV 7) is less well-studied but can be associated with fever and rash in immunocompromised patients. Adenovirus infections can cause severe illness in transplant recipients, including respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases. Parvovirus B19 can cause anemia and other complications in immunocompromised patients. BK virus can cause nephropathy and other complications, particularly in kidney transplant recipients. JC virus is associated with progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a serious brain infection. By utilizing PCR detection for these pathogens, healthcare providers can more effectively manage infections in transplant patients, reducing the risk of complications and improving patient outcomes.

RevoDx Transplant Pathogen Detection Kit is a real-time PCR test intended for the qualitative detection and identification of nucleic acids of the specific viral pathogens from human plasma (EDTA) specimens. It is intended for individuals exhibiting signs and/or symptoms of infection.
