The diagnosis of Moraxella catarrhalis, Haemophilus influenzae, and Streptococcus pyogenes typically involves clinical evaluation and laboratory tests to confirm the presence of these bacterial pathogens, which are often associated with respiratory infections. Moraxella catarrhalis primarily causes respiratory infections, including otitis media in children, sinusitis, and exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in adults. Haemophilus influenzae can cause a variety of infections, such as pneumonia, otitis media, sinusitis, and in severe cases, invasive diseases like meningitis or epiglottitis (especially in non-vaccinated individuals). Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A Streptococcus) is known for causing pharyngitis (strep throat), skin infections (impetigo), and more serious conditions like scarlet fever, rheumatic fever, and post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis. All three pathogens can be included in multiplex PCR assays for rapid and simultaneous detection, especially in respiratory infections, which can present with overlapping symptoms. RevoDx Moraxella catarrhalis / Haemophilus influenzae / Streptococcus pyogenes qPCR Kit is a real-time PCR test intended for the qualitative detection and identification of nucleic acids of the Moraxella catarrhalis, Haemophilus influenzae and Streptococcus pyogenes in human nasopharyngeal swab, oropharyngeal swab, nasopharyngeal aspirate/lavage, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), bronchial aspirate (BAS), sputum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) specimens from individuals with signs and/or symptoms of respiratory infection
